Thank you to our supporters, writers & collab'ers!
Throughout the year we have been steadily
building our publishing catalogue.
We have a licensing store that is due to be
launched in 2013. You can check it out now to get a feel of what’s to come
here: http://tygahoneymusic.co.uk/licensing.html
Whilst creatively toiling away recording in our
solar powered production studio throughout 2012, Tygahoney Music collaborated with the
following award winning songwriter/composer/artists on new song writing projects
in the Funk, Neo Soul, House and Chillout/Electronica genres. We wanted to give all of them a shout out.
What a unique year! We've been nurturing these cyber-music relationships at the same time as getting our USA based operation up and
running. Thanks for being a part of the experience everyone. Here’s to a positive, productive and successful
future:
This year we worked with:
Barrie K. Sharpe
Gareth Tasker
Felix XFile Macintosh (General Levy,
Asian Dub Foundation, Aref Durvesh)
David Beazer
Neal Conway (Crystal Waters, Ultra Nate, T.I., Mary Mary)
Marshall Booze
Robert Burbidge
and had remixes by:
Phat Frank

and had remixes by:

It was fun to co-write and provide the vocals on projects with Felix, Barrie and Neal respectively. The
releases "Colour Pt. 1 and Pt.2" with Barrie K.
Sharpe (http://tygahoneymusic.co.uk/colour.html) and "Candid" with Felix Macintosh (http://tygahoneymusic.co.uk/candid.html) were released in July and
October this year. Check them out and buy them from our store: http://tygahoneymusic.co.uk/shop.html.
We had more placements of our music on prime time shows and documentaries around the world including
shows on Discovery Channel, BBC America, CNN, ABC and MTV including: Primeval, Jim Doherty in Darwin's Garden, Royal Wedding of a Lifetime, Plain Jane, Ros na RĂșn, 0 ond 1 and so much more!
So, the year ends with more great tracks and mixes in our catalogue, ready to be
released and licensed for multiple music purposes during 2013 and beyond. They'll be unveiled soon. Subscribe to this blog so you can be the first to hear.
Tygahoney Music intends to continue to make a positive difference with its
work too, keep an eye out for more updates on our CSR orientated projects.
I
am excited to see what the future holds.
BIG thanks to Independent Music Group and Ellis Rich OBE for being so supportive with the administering of our Publishing Catalogue.
To our wonderful supporters who have purchased our music, shared our pages and updates, commented, bantered with and RT'd us, thanks
for your support in 2012, for sticking with us and for being a part of it all.
Enjoy
your holidays.

Submit Your Music! (Tygahoney Music - Conscious Sounds Project)
2012 has been a great year for building positive relationships, working on and commencing new projects and partnerships in music, media and with businesses of all sizes. We've been developing great projects in the US, Asia, Europe, Australia and at home in the UK.
We are currently updating our music catalogue which is due for relaunch in January 2013 and we are seeking new music. For this search we are looking for songs with ethical, social and environmentally "conscious" themes for a variety of projects including film, documentaries and company videos to add to our growing music licensing catalogue. If you are seeking publishing opportunities and would like to submit your music for consideration, please contact Storme at: submit@tygahoneymusic.co.uk.
In order for your email to be opened please ensure the following at the very least:
Include "Tygahoney Music - Conscious Sounds" in the subject line. Otherwise your email will not be opened (we get too much spam as it is!)

"What is Social Enterprise?" film soundtrack provided by Tygahoney Music & Publishing Ltd.
SEL's Film, "What is Social Enterprise?" was filmed to raise awareness of Social Enterprise and to highlight some life changing Social Enterprises based in London. I was asked to present and narrate the film and my company, Tygahoney Music provided the soundtrack. The film crew was the Creative Motion Picture Co. Fab guys!
Other London companies featured in the film include Jamie Oliver's restaurant Fifteen, which gives unemployed youth a chance to have a better future, Clarity, a charity that employs blind and disabled people to create cleaning products and yummy personal care gift sets that aren't tested on animals, and my company Tygahoney Music, a socially conscious record label and publishing company which provides mobile music workshops for schools and communities, mentors and raises awareness on social issues including homelessness, domestic abuse and Fair Trade through it's work.
It was an honour to be involved in this media project and to film it in my home town in London. To be asked to provide the soundtrack and to present and narrate too was wonderful! It was great to be involved in a film commissioned and produced by those who share similar sentiments about making a positive difference in business. We filmed all over London. It was a long, exhausting day, but very rewarding.
You'll find the film on SEL's website, on our YouTube page, and right here too! Check it out, leave a comment and let me know how use social enterprises in your every day life.
Thanks for reading.
Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Press Release: “Digital Audio Postcard” Single Recorded in Tropical Jungle, Cornwall & London by 2 Females
Candid is out now. Here is the official press release...
After two years recording the instruments and voice parts separately on opposite sides of the world,Global Soul Electronica digital audio postcard “Candid” will be available for digital download this Friday. Despite being 8,000 miles apart, in The Tropics & The Temperate, founders Felix Xfile Macintosh and Danelle Harvey continued working on the Candid Unleashed project.
The musicians, recording artists and independent label owners met at a networking event for female record label owners in London. A mutual love of tigers and music helped seal their connection and they attended a William Orbit Production master class together soon after. After swapping their relative music industry experiences and production techniques on their tube journey home, they decide to work together on a project. Despite Danelle’s imminent departure to the Tropics to write and record her new single album, they continued to collaborate between Felix’s base in London and Danelle’s base in a tropical remote jungle. Felix recorded the bass, and Danelle recorded the vocals. The Udu African claypot was recorded remotely from Cornwall in the UK and they decided to add it to the mix.
The “Digital Audio Postcard” name tag was given to the project due to the process of posting audio and video footage to each other via snail mail and digital methods. Their remote recording method was also used to create video footage from both the jungle, London and Cornwall. Upon completion of the song, they decided to release it as a single.
The co-release by Tygahoney Music’s Funk ‘n Honey and Tigersonic Tracks, the labels run by Danelle and Felix, will be available direct from the Candid Unleashed Website as a download:http://candidunleashed.co.uk on September 21 2012.

"More hooks than a Prince track!"
That is what one of the attendees of our listening party wrote about our upcoming release "Candid". Any positive reference to Prince fills me with joy so that already has me beaming!
It is always nice to have feedback from listeners and fans of your music. For me, it is also important to be able to connect and listen to what people in your corner have to say about your work. One of the most difficult parts of the release process for me is marketing a song. The reason being is that there is no set genre for the majority of my music releases, and in this world of conformity, music seems better received (from music stores) when recognised as one of the music categories the industry has chosen. I don't like putting my work in a "box", but having a tangible category to work with makes the sales tracking possible and the promotion, more fun and pain free! With this in mind, Felix and I decided to put the question of what thoughts, feelings and genre spring to mind when listening to "Candid" to our trusted audience. I'm glad we did. Sometimes you are too close to a project to be objective enough - outside help can be just the ticket.
So when Tygahoney Music and Tigersonic Tracks held our special listening party for our first co-release together, we invited a small number of people to the lil' online shindig.
It was fun! We wanted to do a Google hangout initially but chose to do a private FB event instead. I love being a host, virtual or otherwise! That was a highlight along with being about to hear the track from a different perspective.
We achieved our goal and then some. In the end, we ended up with more words and phrases than you can shake a stick of rock at!
The latest phrase that has turned up, which I like a lot, is "Dreamy groove-laden new world beats...more hooks than a Prince track!" Thanks Tominagirl!
I'll mix that description up and add the "soulful Female voice" element to it, just to give total strangers a heads up on the sound.
So we are on our way. Next up? Sending out the remainder of the presskits. Look out for yours. If you haven't already received one and you would like to join the promotional list, let me know.

Before I Chase Those Z's I Wanted To Let You Know
After a week of hard slog filled with frustration, determination, resolve, re-affirmation and a couple of reality checks going toe to toe with fulfilling and eventful moments such as learning to play the ukelele in 20 seconds and then directing a mini 'uke'stra, playing my blue sparkly Descant recorder on a recording due to overwhelming inspiration (haven't played since I was a pre-teen or would they say "tweenie" these days?!), setting up and hosting a virtual pre-release listening party and succesfully not once mentioning anything to do with a particular world sporting event happening in my home town to one single soul (not once), I think you get the picture... I'm ready to try to get forty winks. Being an insomniac that might be difficult, but I'll whip out the organic chamomile tea and take my chances. Before I settle down and attempt to do a modern Rip Van Winkle (sleep forever) I wanted to let you know that there is some cool activity going on with Tygahoney and Pinterest. Tygahoney Music has a co-release Pinterest board that we have created with Tigersonic Tracks for our upcoming single Candid.

A Female/Tiger collaboration - Candid [Chillstep] - Coming Soon!
Tygahoney Music's next
single 'Candid' will be co-released with Tigersonic Tracks. This lush, chilled
out piece of music will be a collaborative release by myself, Danelle Harvey and Felix Macintosh, two females from London. We both own our own independent
record labels and are chuffed to be working together. The track has a lovely Asian/Indian flavour. With my vocals on top and Felix playing Bass, it truly is a joyous project to be working on as musicians doing our thing!

Review by Jazzreloaded.com of Our Single 'Colour'
This review didn't get put up on this blog t'other day! Slap my wrists, I've obviously had a lot going on to have let this one slip. But that is a good sign, right?
Respect and big thanks to Mr Taylor (an incredible musician), Founder and Editor-In-Chief of the Parliamentary award winning JazzReloaded for his commentary on our latest music release.
Here are my fave parts of the write-up:
"What can I say. The song has an embarrassingly simple message, made all the more embarrassing by the reality that swathes of communities and individuals on both sides of the Atlantic continue to fail to heed or apply the message. This song, and its premise, is not something to be intellectualised. After all, the decision to discriminate against people based on their skin colour was based on intellectual premises...
“Please don’t hate me for the colour of my skin”
They are words to live by, and as ever, Danelle is one with the courage to live by her lyrics."

New Review On Latest Tygahoney Release 'Colour'
Hurrah once again! Tygahoney Music has received another nice mention and write up.
This time the review is by Versatile about the recently released 'Colour'.
To be respected and written about by people Tygahoney respect means a lot. When people who actually speak words of value and who walk the walk connect with the music that we do, something amazing happens. It keeps the good vibes and flow moving and spreading, making a positive difference in so many ways. It's all about being conscious for Tygahoney. Spreading love and positivity while encouraging the empowerment of all feels great.
Thank you Versatile!

"Danelle Harvey and Rhythm Rhyme Revolution present a song entitled "Colour". Which was released on 13th July 2012. Just looking at the artwork alone is very intriguing. But in all honesty this is the type of music that is relevant. I love the lyrics "Please don't hate me by the colour of my skin" and the instrumentation behind it. Reminds of original Afro Beats/High Life.
The video also has that old school original feel to it. Not complex but very simple. I always bang on about real music. Truth is real music has no genre. Real music speaks to your heart and soul, like this. I give this 5/5 and would recommend that you buy and support the real music movement. Grab your copy via clicking here. This music song is just simply magnificent."

Thank you Mike Fossati
Exclusive Preview: Danelle Harvey "Alright" / "Paradise" (CD-R)
We are proud to introduce you to these brand new productions by Neal Conway, the legendary composer and musician behind many of the timeless Basement Boys classics. On both "Alright" and "Paradise", he revitalizes his beloved underground flavored sound from the early 90's back, melting Danelle Harvey's unmistakable vocals with relentless percussive rhythms and delicious keys - the result is simply breathtaking. DJ Ant B of Sweat Zone Music is on remix duty, contributing intoxicating remixes for both songs guaranteed to send the crowd into a frenzy. Look out for a release coming soon...

Tygahoney Servers and Contact Info
I am writing this post on Independence Day which is apt because this Indie label is really striving to make a name for itself as a conscious independent company. There are a few battles going on behind the scenes. This is to be expected for a company that prides itself on good ethics, something that some we have come across don't do. I realise that a glamourous image in the public profile may not always reflect the hustle and bustle that goes on and that nowadays, more than ever, people like to hear and connect with the heart and soul of a movement, organisation or artist.
My purpose here is to give you an update. Short and sweet without taking away from the hard 24/7 work that is happening at Tygahoney Music.
The email (.com) servers for the company have been down for almost two weeks. Quite frustrating for a young company such as this. While dealing with the host company for the site, who don't answer or respond to emails, I have been trying to keep things bright and bubbly and keep things flowing on the outside. Fortunately we still have the co.uk domain working well and thank goodness I had the foresight to switch the website back to the tygahoney.co.uk address months ago, otherwise there would be an outrageous disaster on my hands right now!
There are a number of new projects lined up in the House music, Neo Soul, Rock, Pop, Funk and Instrumental genres. I am proud to be working with some highly respected and successful artists; producers who are actual, real, down to earth good eggs! One of my reasons for setting up this label was to emancipate myself from the fakeness, then do something good and make a positive difference with my craft and gift. Tygahoney is truly walking the talk, working with nice, professional, humble, ethical sorts who don't need to play dirty and actually have real talent without hiding behind an overhyped reputation. Tygahoney Music keeps it real. There is a NO BS, NO EGO POLICY and it applies to anyone I work with, and vice versa from my esteemed colleagues.
We will announce and promote each and every song project and release when it is appropriate, so please check back for regular updates.

Tygahoney Music values your support and hopes you are into the music and philosophy behind it. Do keep supprorting. This is a truly indie movement and it thrives and works due to the community behind it and with it. People like YOU!
I would love to have a dialogue with you, so please chip in and say something if you feel the need. Leave suggestions, comments, love, constructive feedback, whatever below. I am open to all that is good and positive and I welcome your thoughts.
I hope that your week is going beautifully and that wherever you are in the world, all is well in it.
Stay positive. Dream BIG. Be nice. It will all work out.
Thanks for reading!

New single 'Colour' out in July [Getting ready to drop it...]
Busy busy busy! Tygahoney has been getting prepared for our new Funk/Soul release 'Colour' by our new record label, Funk 'n Honey. Being a Fair Trade label and into all good things music, we will be co-releasing the single along with Badthingz, the label owned by Barrie Sharpe, who released the classic soul song 'Masterplan' with his previous band member Diana Brown.
The song has a conscious flavour (of course) that guarantees to get you tappin' those toes. It was dropped at Ministry of Sound last month and the place didn't know what hit it! Feedback from our wonderful listeners, FB friends and followers has been beyond positive too. It feels good.
