Press Release: “Digital Audio Postcard” Single Recorded in Tropical Jungle, Cornwall & London by 2 Females

Candid is out now. Here is the official press release...

“Digital Audio Postcard” Single Recorded in Tropical Jungle, Cornwall & London by 2 Females

“Digital Audio Postcard” collaboration & video recorded between tropical jungle, Cornwall & London by two female Londoners released as a single.

After two years recording the instruments and voice parts separately on opposite sides of the world,Global Soul Electronica digital audio postcard “Candid” will be available for digital download this Friday. Despite being 8,000 miles apart, in The Tropics & The Temperate, founders Felix Xfile Macintosh and Danelle Harvey continued working on the Candid Unleashed project.

The musicians, recording artists and independent label owners met at a networking event for female record label owners in London. A mutual love of tigers and music helped seal their connection and they attended a William Orbit Production master class together soon after. After swapping their relative music industry experiences and production techniques on their tube journey home, they decide to work together on a project. Despite Danelle’s imminent departure to the Tropics to write and record her new single album, they continued to collaborate between Felix’s base in London and Danelle’s base in a tropical remote jungle. Felix recorded the bass, and Danelle recorded the vocals. The Udu African claypot was recorded remotely from Cornwall in the UK and they decided to add it to the mix.

The “Digital Audio Postcard” name tag was given to the project due to the process of posting audio and video footage to each other via snail mail and digital methods. Their remote recording method was also used to create video footage from both the jungle, London and Cornwall. Upon completion of the song, they decided to release it as a single.

The co-release by Tygahoney Music’s Funk ‘n Honey and Tigersonic Tracks, the labels run by Danelle and Felix, will be available direct from the Candid Unleashed Website as a download:http://candidunleashed.co.uk on September 21 2012.

"More hooks than a Prince track!"

That is what one of the attendees of our listening party wrote about our upcoming release "Candid". Any positive reference to Prince fills me with joy so that already has me beaming!

It is always nice to have feedback from listeners and fans of your music. For me, it is also important to be able to connect and listen to what people in your corner have to say about your work. One of the most difficult parts of the release process for me is marketing a song. The reason being is that there is no set genre for the majority of my music releases, and in this world of conformity, music seems better received (from music stores) when recognised as one of the music categories the industry has chosen. I don't like putting my work in a "box", but having a tangible category to work with makes the sales tracking possible and the promotion, more fun and pain free! With this in mind, Felix and I decided to put the question of what thoughts, feelings and genre spring to mind when listening to "Candid"  to our trusted audience. I'm glad we did. Sometimes you are too close to a project to be objective enough - outside help can be just the ticket.

So when Tygahoney Music and Tigersonic Tracks held our special listening party for our first co-release together, we invited a small number of people to the lil' online shindig.

It was fun! We wanted to do a Google hangout initially but chose to do a private FB event instead. I love being a host, virtual or otherwise! That was a highlight along with being about to hear the track from a different perspective.

We achieved our goal and then some. In the end, we ended up with more words and phrases than you can shake a stick of rock at!

The latest phrase that has turned up, which I like a lot, is "Dreamy groove-laden new world beats...more hooks than a Prince track!" Thanks Tominagirl!

I'll mix that description up and add the "soulful Female voice" element to it, just to give total strangers a heads up on the sound.

So we are on our way. Next up? Sending out the remainder of the presskits. Look out for yours. If you haven't already received one and you would like to join the promotional list, let me know.

Before I Chase Those Z's I Wanted To Let You Know

After a week of hard slog filled with frustration, determination, resolve, re-affirmation and a couple of reality checks going toe to toe with fulfilling and eventful moments such as learning to play the ukelele in 20 seconds and then directing a mini 'uke'stra, playing my blue sparkly Descant recorder on a recording  due to overwhelming inspiration (haven't played since I was a pre-teen or would they say "tweenie" these days?!), setting up and hosting a virtual pre-release listening party and succesfully not once mentioning anything to do with a particular world sporting event happening in my home town to one single soul (not once), I think you get the picture... I'm ready to try to get forty winks. Being an insomniac that might be difficult, but I'll whip out the organic chamomile tea and take my chances. Before I settle down and attempt to do a modern Rip Van Winkle (sleep forever) I wanted to let you know that there is some cool activity going on with Tygahoney and Pinterest. Tygahoney Music has a co-release Pinterest board that we have created with Tigersonic Tracks for our upcoming single Candid.

If you are Pinterested, check it here and follow: Candid Unleashed on Pinterest

Thank you! Wish me luck for catching those z'ssss please...

Thanks for reading.

Have a great weekend!

A Female/Tiger collaboration - Candid [Chillstep] - Coming Soon!

Tygahoney Music's next single 'Candid' will be co-released with Tigersonic Tracks. This lush, chilled out piece of music will be a collaborative release by myself, Danelle Harvey and Felix Macintosh, two females from London. We both own our own independent record labels and are chuffed to be working together. The track has a lovely Asian/Indian flavour. With my vocals on top and Felix playing Bass, it truly is a joyous project to be working on as musicians doing our thing!

The release date is set for 21 August 2012. Please join us on our CandidUnleashed Pinterest board to stay-up-to date with our release related Pinterest posts.
I'll post some clips of the track up soon!

Stay tuned for more news. Thanks for tuning in.

Review by Jazzreloaded.com of Our Single 'Colour'

This review didn't get put up on this blog t'other day! Slap my wrists, I've obviously had a lot going on to have let this one slip. But that is a good sign, right?

Respect and big thanks to Mr Taylor (an incredible musician), Founder and Editor-In-Chief of the Parliamentary award winning JazzReloaded for his commentary on our latest music release.

Here are my fave parts of the write-up:

"What can I say. The song has an embarrassingly simple message, made all the more embarrassing by the reality that swathes of communities and individuals on both sides of the Atlantic continue to fail to heed or apply the message. This song, and its premise, is not something to be intellectualised. After all, the decision to discriminate against people based on their skin colour was based on intellectual premises...

“Please don’t hate me for the colour of my skin”

They are words to live by, and as ever, Danelle is one with the courage to live by her lyrics."

Thanks for reading once again.

To be respected and written about by people Tygahoney respect means a lot. When people who actually speak words of value and who walk the walk connect with the music that we do, something amazing happens. It keeps the good vibes and flow moving and spreading, making a positive difference in so many ways. It's all about being conscious for Tygahoney. Spreading love and positivity while encouraging the empowerment of all feels great.

"Danelle Harvey and Rhythm Rhyme Revolution present a song entitled "Colour". Which was released on 13th July 2012. Just looking at the artwork alone is very intriguing. But in all honesty this is the type of music that is relevant. I love the lyrics "Please don't hate me by the colour of my skin" and the instrumentation behind it. Reminds of original Afro Beats/High Life.

The video also has that old school original feel to it. Not complex but very simple. I always bang on about real music. Truth is real music has no genre. Real music speaks to your heart and soul, like this. I give this 5/5 and would recommend that you buy and support the real music movement. Grab your copy via clicking here. This music song is just simply magnificent."
